Meet Richard W. Anton, Registered Calgary Psychologist
My first priority, when you sit down with me, at Anton Psychology is to create a space. One where you feel safe. I want you to feel heard and understood. I know that reaching out for help isn’t easy. It takes courage.
I respect that every person who comes to me is carrying something important. My role isn’t to judge or “fix” you. Instead, I walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and perspective. This way, you can explore what matters most in your life.
I value kindness, love, and perspective, and I bring these qualities into every session. Clients often tell me they appreciate my ability to stay present. They value how I listen deeply.
They also appreciate how I notice things they hadn’t seen before. Together, we can slow down, untangle challenges, and discover new ways of moving forward that feel authentic and sustainable.
With over 20 years of experience as a Registered Psychologist in Alberta, I’ve worked with individuals, couples, and professionals. My work has addressed concerns ranging from stress and anxiety to relationships, self-esteem, and personal growth.
Alongside my clinical practice, I’ve also supervised emerging psychologists. I find this deeply rewarding. I have also contributed to advancing the field of health psychology.
Anton Psychology – Calgary Psychologist
I believe therapy isn’t just about overcoming problems — it’s about creating a more meaningful, connected, and balanced life. You can meet with me in-person in downtown Calgary. Alternatively, we can connect virtually from the comfort of your home. I’m here to help you take the next step toward the changes you want to see.
I became a psychologist because I’ve always been drawn to what lives beneath the surface. I’m interested in those deeper layers where people often carry unspoken burdens.
They also carry unrealized gifts and untold stories. I’ve seen firsthand how powerful it can be to be truly heard, not judged. To be seen, not analyzed. To be accompanied, not “treated.”
My Approach
“I offer a grounded, compassionate presence and a deep respect for each person’s uniqueness. My clients describe me as steady, intuitive, and someone who makes space for both clarity and complexity.”
My practice blends traditional psychological insight with a holistic, relational approach. That means we won’t just look at symptoms-we’ll explore the inner landscapes where your pain, resilience, and transformation live.
In our work together, you can expect:
- A warm, confidential space to be yourself.
- Gentle but honest conversations.
- Support in navigating anxiety, identity, relationships, self-worth, or professional stress.
- Guidance that honors your timing and your truth.
Credentials & Background
I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology and am a Registered Psychologist in Alberta. Over the years, I’ve worked with clients from all walks of life. These include students, professionals, creatives, parents, and leaders. Each is on their own unique journey toward wholeness.
When I’m not in session, I’m usually writing. I spend time in nature. I also explore the intersection between presence, imagination, and emotional healing. This theme also runs through my creative projects and emerging work.

Treat Your Challenge as an Opportunity
Not everyone realizes that “their present situation is an opportunity.” If your situation has to be difficult, shouldn’t you take full advantage of it? Treat it as an opportunity or a gift. “Can I be more self-confident?” “Can I enhance my interpersonal skills?” “Can I control my sex addiction?”
Here are some examples of how individuals have positively benefited from the services provided at Anton Counseling & Health Psychology in Calgary:

They approached them with intentionality. They found the feedback from their sessions to be insightful and applicable to real-life interactions
