At Anton Psychology, we believe that true transformation occurs not through mere fixing but through the profound journey of understanding oneself. Most people seek therapy because something in life has become difficult.

Perhaps they are struggling with anxiety, stress, relationship challenges, loss, uncertainty, or a persistent feeling that something important is missing. These concerns matter, and addressing them is an important part of therapy. Yet over the years, I have come to believe that effective therapy is about more than solving problems.

It is about helping people develop a different relationship with themselves, with others, and with life itself. The psychology behind my work is grounded in a simple observation:

The quality of our lives is shaped not only by what happens to us but also by how we participate in it.

Many people spend years operating on autopilot, reacting to old wounds, inherited assumptions, unconscious habits, and stories that were once necessary but may no longer fit. Therapy creates an opportunity to pause. To become more aware. To notice what has been organizing our thoughts, emotions, choices, and relationships. And to discover that we may have more freedom than we realized.

My approach is influenced by decades of clinical practice, health psychology, attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, humanistic psychology, and depth psychology. Yet beneath these perspectives is a deeper conviction:

People are often larger than the stories they have been telling about themselves.

The goal of therapy is not to become someone else. It is to become more fully yourself. This often begins with presence. The ability to notice what is happening within and around us without immediately judging, avoiding, or reacting to it.

Presence creates space. Space for insight, for choice. Space for new possibilities to emerge. From that space, people often discover greater steadiness, deeper relationships, a clearer sense of direction, and a more coherent understanding of their lives.

In many ways, therapy is not about fixing people. It is about helping them reconnect with capacities that may have been obscured by stress, fear, loss, trauma, or the demands of everyday life. I believe that meaningful change often occurs when people feel understood rather than evaluated, accompanied rather than managed, and seen without being solved. Because growth rarely begins with force.

It often begins with awareness. With curiosity. With a glimpse. And sometimes a single glimpse can change the direction of an entire life.

Why Presence Matters

The essence that weaves through my work is the transformative power of presence. Throughout my journey, I’ve discovered that true change seldom emerges from a sudden revelation, a specific technique, or a perfectly articulated idea. Instead, it often begins when an individual embraces their own experiences with open awareness. To recognize a pattern, we must first observe it. To make different choices, we must first become conscious of our current reality. And to craft a life filled with meaning, we must learn to engage more intentionally with the moments we are already living.

This is why presence occupies such a central place in my approach to therapy. Presence is not simply a mindfulness practice, nor is it a particular therapeutic technique.

It is a way of relating to ourselves, to others, and to life itself. It is the foundation upon which awareness, growth, resilience, and meaningful change are built. To understand the psychology behind my work, it helps to understand why presence matters.
